About the Blog

  • This blog is a Charity Challenge in aid of the International Rescue Committee and the World Veterinary Service, and will be running throughout 2017. However, the main aim of the blog is to spread the knowledge that we can all achieve a greater level of well-being. Please feel free to share the posts with anybody who you think is interested or could benefit from it. The blog is free to view for everybody. Donations are of course very welcome but they are not a requirement for viewing. I know that many people already have lots of other financial commitments or may already give to other charities. I would be happy enough to know that this blog may have just made a little difference in someone's life.
  • At the bottom of each main post there is a link labelled 'View and Save as PDF'. By clicking on that link, you can not only view the posts in PDF format but also download and print them for future use. You are also welcome to share the posts in these formats with others.
  • You can get the posts by email if you prefer. The email subscription is quite straightforward, but the final step is still pending for some subscribers. Please note that you need to go to the web-version of the blog if you are using it from a mobile device. Please also note that at the last step of the registration process, you should receive an email from Feedburner. To complete registration, you need to click on a link within that email. If you have not received that email, please check your SPAM filter. If you don't find the email there, please contact me using the contact form below.
  • Alternatively, you can also follow the campaign on Facebook, where all posts on the blog will appear as shared links, together with some additional information.
  • All posts are assigned a label summarising their content. The labels are listed on the right side of the screen and, by clicking on a label, you can retrieve the post(s) which have been written about a specific topic. N.B. the label search function is also only available in the web-version. Similarly, there is a 'Blog Archive' where posts can be retrieved in chronological order  and by title. This is also only available in the web version, which can be accessed on mobile devices by clicking on 'view web version' at the bottom of the mobile version of the blog.
  • Occasionally, I will just post a nice quote or a short update. These can be found under the label 'quick update'.
  • As a vet I am very much aware of the specific challenges in our profession, but I would like the blog to be accessible and relevant for everybody. If I think a specific topic is particularly relevant to vets, I will point this out but the posts will otherwise be generally applicable. Also, there will be some more scientific sections at some point, explaining the processes in our brains and bodies relevant to well-being and I will try to explain them so that they are understandable for people without specific medical knowledge.
  • I will aim to publish the main posts mostly on Fridays at UK lunchtime (weekly to every other week), but there may be some variation.
  • Any feedback, questions and comments are welcome! Comments are moderated (meaning reviewed by me) before publishing, but as long as the feedback is constructive I am happy to publish it. Comments can also be left anonymously.
